Australia’s accounting watchdog said Wednesday that it was closing its investigation of KPMG exam cheating, imposing sanctions on just eight of the 422 employees it investigated for misconduct.
Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand said the eight employees had been cautioned for cheating in professional ethics exams. The watchdog said in April that it had closed its investigations into all but 12 of the 422 people found guilty of cheating, with 410 of those failing to “meet the threshold for further action.” Of the 12, just eight have been sanctioned.
