KPMG Fulfills Independent Director Promise With Retired General (1)

KPMG LLP turned far from the accounting and auditing field to look for the partnership’s first independent director, choosing a recently retired, four-star Air Force general with a background in aeronautics.

Janet Wolfenbarger’s service on KPMG’s U.S. board begins this month. Additional independent directors are expected to be named in the coming weeks, the firm told Bloomberg Tax.

KPMG said in April that it would add up to three independent directors to its board of partners with the goal of rebuilding trust with its clients and stakeholders, and ensuring work of “unimpeachable quality.”
