Longtime Enforcement Head Departs U.S. Audit Board

The deputy enforcement director for the U.S. audit regulator will leave the agency after nearly a decade of service.

Mark Adler served as acting enforcement director of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board amid an overhaul in the senior leadership at the regulator. The PCAOB announced his departure Monday.

  • During his tenure as acting director, the division brought cases involving auditor misconduct, including independence violations and lack of professional care. Adler joined the board in 2010 after serving as a litigator with the SEC and a white collar crime prosecutor for the Justice Department, the board said.
