NY Senate Passes Bill Raising NYC Childcare Center Tax Break (1)

The New York Senate passed a bill pushed by New York City Mayor Eric Adams that would extend and increase the city’s tax incentive for opening or expanding childcare centers.

Adams, who is running for re-election this year as an Independent, issued a memo to the state legislature May 29 in support of preserving the tax abatement. He pushed to create the incentive in 2023 to increase the city’s supply of childcare options. The Senate approved S7685 by a vote of 58-2 on Thursday. It has yet to advance in the Assembly.
