Offshore Data Centers Eye Tax Relief in India’s GST Revamp

India’s proposed overhaul of its goods and services tax law would open the door to savings for companies that provide information technology and related services to businesses overseas.

The change would represent “a landmark reform for the services sector,” said Mahesh Jaising, partner and indirect tax leader at Deloitte India.

Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a slew of amendments to the country’s GST law, including cutting the number of rates from four to two for most goods and services.
