Pregnancy-Rights Bill Advances Amid Rare Congress Bipartisanship

The House passed stronger protections for pregnant workers by a 214-vote margin on Friday, highlighting widespread support for one of the few labor measures that could break through the Senate’s partisan logjam.

The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (H.R. 1065) was also passed by the chamber last year with bipartisan support, but it wasn’t considered by the GOP-held Senate. The bill passed 315-101 on Friday, and Democrats are aiming to send the bill to the desk of President Joe Biden, who has endorsed it.
