Puerto Rico decreased its unemployment insurance tax rates for 2025, according to a federal Department of Labor publication.
Tax rates for experienced employers range from 2% to 5.4%, according to the department’s publication of state unemployment insurance tax rates. For comparison, tax rates in 2024 ranged from 2.5% to 5.4%.
The tax rate for new employers in 2025 is 3.1%, according to the publication. In 2024, the rate for new employers was 3.4%.
Puerto Rico’s unemployment-taxable wage base for 2025 is $7,000, unchanged from 2024, according to the publication.
