PwC’s $11.6 Million Age Bias in Hiring Settlement Gets Final OK

PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP’s $11.6 million settlement of class action claims alleging it discriminated against older job seekers received final approval from a federal court in California, ending a nearly five-year lawsuit involving PwC’s Tax and Assurance lines of service.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California also approved class counsel’s request for more than $4 million in attorneys’ fees and litigation costs and $20,000 service awards to lead plaintiffs Steve Rabin and John Chapman.

Those and other ancillary payments, including a $300,000 reserve fund for future class members, will be drawn from the $11.6 million overall settlement. The ...
