SEC Chief Accountant Stresses Global Collaboration on Standards

The SEC’s top accountant is pushing for further cooperation between the US and international accounting boards to cut through complexity and speed up rulewriting.

The standard setters can learn from each other’s work and public feedback, Kurt Hohl, chief accountant to the Securities and Exchange Commission said Monday. This can help get accounting rules out the door faster, he said.

“One of the things that I’m really focused on is to try to get as much cooperation and convergence as we can on standards, because it reduces investor confusion,” Hohl said at an American Institute of CPAs conference ...
