A senior SEC official declined to discuss possible changes to draft climate regulations with lawmakers Tuesday, as Democrats and Republicans repeatedly raised concerns about the agency’s plans.
The Securities and Exchange Commission is open to feedback about its March 2022 climate proposal, including a requirement for big public companies to report their supply chain emissions, said Erik Gerding, director of the agency’s Division of Corporation Finance. Rep. Frank Lucas (R-Okla.), Rep. David Scott (D-Ga.), and other lawmakers told Gerding they’re worried about the burdens companies would face to track indirect greenhouse gases, known as Scope 3 emissions. ...
