SEC Top Accountant Calls on Rulemaker to Put Investors First

U.S. accounting rulemakers must consider investor needs and make a solid case for change when they decide what rules to write or tweak, the Securities and Exchange Commission’s top accountant said in a statement Tuesday.

It is “critically important” the Financial Accounting Standards Board continues to improve the process to get investor and other stakeholder feedback when FASB decides to set new standards, SEC Acting Chief Accountant Paul Munter said.
