Senate Republicans Hatch Plan to Speed Trump’s Stalled Nominees

Republicans are planning to upend Senate rules to confirm Donald Trump’s stalled nominees in one vote, speeding up the president’s ability to fill top regulatory, district court and other posts and essentially neutering Democratic dissent.

The move would greatly empower Trump to appoint people who will greenlight his agenda and mark the latest erosion of the power of the Senate minority, which has traditionally used the chamber’s long-standing procedures to serve as a check on the party in power.
