Thailand Postpones Employee Welfare Fund Contributions to 2026

A decision to postpone the start of contributions to Thailand’s Employee Welfare Fund by one year, to Oct. 1, 2026, from Oct. 1, 2025, was approved by the country’s cabinet at its Aug. 26 meeting.

A summary of the cabinet’s meeting (Thai) cited economic reasons among others for the postponement, including recent minimum wage increases and US tariffs. It said that the initial contribution rate of 0.25% for both employers and employees would still remain in effect for five years, but from Oct. 1, 2026, to Sept. 30, 2031, instead of from 2025 to 2030.
