Toshiba Executive Resigns Over Improper Entertainment Expenses

Toshiba says Vice President and COO Goro Yanase resigned after he broke rules on “entertainment expenses.”

• Company’s audit committee launched an investigation into his entertainment expenses in 2019 and found he broke Toshiba’s rules
• Yanase “repeatedly” submitted expenses without reporting the actual names of the parties with whom he had business meals or drinks
• Says given the company was placing the highest priority in maintaining and establishing sound governance it was no longer appropriate for Yanase to play any further role in its senior management
