U.K. Pushes Green Reporting Mandate, Global Disclosure Standards

The U.K. government and regulators are backing mandatory sustainability reporting standards, with a plan to require large companies to report on climate change impacts and a call for global reporting standards.

The government said Tuesday that it supported moves to draw up global standards. So did accounting watchdog the Financial Reporting Council, which said in a report that “corporate reporting needs to improve to meet the expectations of investors and other users on the urgent issue of climate change.”
