UK companies could be audited by accountants with professional qualifications from other countries after as little as two years of training under a “fast-track pathway” unveiled Wednesday by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
Accountants seeking to take advantage of this new option, approved by the Financial Reporting Council, only need to complete the UK-specific parts of the qualification process required by the audit watchdog. ICAS said it would cut the time necessary for foreign accountants to become auditors by slashing the number of assessments.
