Only a third of women and underrepresented groups, including Black and Hispanic accountants, believe the accounting profession is fair and inclusive, according to a report by the Institute of Management Accountants released Tuesday.
The report also found that roughly half of women; nonwhite, Hispanic and LGBTQ, intersex, and asexual people have left a job in the field because they felt they weren’t treated fairly.
The survey of roughly 3,100 current and former professionals from across management and public accounting offers a blunt assessment of just how much work it will take to diversify the field.
