The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board announced Tuesday that William Ryan has been named acting director of the board’s Division of Enforcement and Investigations.
Ryan will oversee probes and enforcement of violations of the board’s rules, professional standards, and other applicable securities regulations, the PCAOB said.
He previously served as the Enforcement Division’s chief counsel and has been with the PCAOB since 2007. Prior to joining the board, he worked at the Department of Justice’s Civil Division.
He will fill in for outgoing Enforcement Director Robert Rice, who is retiring on Dec. 31.
