US Audit Boards Seeks Advice to Reshape Outdated Attest Rules

The US audit regulator wants to know whether some of its outdated rules are being used by auditors and what changes it should make to modernize them.

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board on Monday sought feedback about a suite of attestation rules that auditors often tap to provide certain compliance audits or other types of reviews beyond financial statement audits. The rules predate the board’s creation and were adopted in 2003 as interim standards.
