Warburg Pincus Buys Stake in Brazil Accounting Firm for $125m

Warburg Pincus acquired a minority stake in Brazilian accounting firm Contabilizei for $125m, it said in a statement.

  • Firm, which was founded in 2013, automates tax and accounting-related services for about 50,000 clients in Brazil
    • Operates at break-even
  • Deal makes Warburg the largest shareholder of Contabilizei
    • Warburg acquired stakes from other venture capital funds, including Kaszek Ventures
  • “We see great potential in the company, especially in a market still dominated by manual processes, with ample room for automation and the use of artificial intelligence,” said Bruno Maimone, Managing Director at Warburg
