The hourly minimum wage in Washington is expected to increase to $17.13 from $16.66 effective Jan. 1, 2026, according to Bloomberg Tax calculations.
The calculations are based on Washington statutes and federal data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Washington exempts executive, administrative, and professional employees from state overtime requirements if they earn at least a certain minimum salary. For 2026, the minimum salary will be 2.25 times the minimum wage for a 40-hour workweek under state regulations. If Washington’s minimum wage rises to $17.13 for 2026, the minimum salary threshold for exemption will be $1,541.70 per week. ...
