The Washington Employment Security Department may waive penalties for small errors in employers’ unemployment insurance quarterly tax reports, under a bill effective June 11.
SB 5874 clarifies that “minor or insignificant reporting errors” include the failure of an electronic software to produce a quarterly report with the standard occupational classification or job title of each worker.
Employers have been required to include each worker’s standard occupational classification and job title in quarterly unemployment insurance reports since Oct. 1, 2022, according to a bill report for SB 5874.
Gov. Bob Ferguson (D) signed SB 5874 into law on March 14.
