Alaska Releases 2025 Unemployment Insurance Rate for Employees

Alaska employees will pay 0.5% in unemployment insurance tax for 2025, unchanged from 2024, according to an update on the Labor and Workforce Development Department’s website.

The 0.5% rate will apply up to Alaska’s unemployment-taxable wage base, which will rise to $51,700 for 2025, according to the website. As a result, the maximum amount of unemployment insurance tax that employees will pay in 2025 is $258.50, up from $248.50 in 2024.

Alaska is one of the few states that assesses an unemployment insurance tax on employees in addition to the tax assessed on employers.
