Another California City Sets Own Minimum Wage

Menlo Park, Calif., established a $15 hourly minimum wage under an ordinance adopted by the city council, the city clerk confirmed Sept. 26 in an email to Bloomberg Tax.

The new wage, which applies to employees who work at least two hours in a week, is to take effect Jan. 1, 2020, under the ordinance (No. 1058).

The wage is to be adjusted annually for inflation and rounded to the nearest 5 cents, starting Jan. 1, 2021, However, the city council may temporarily suspend the inflation-related adjustments for up to a year, depending on economic conditions.
