April 3, 2025, 7:53 PM UTC

Arizona is raising the maximum amount of reported unpaid wages in state wage claims to $12,000 from $5,000, under a bill that will go into effect 90 days after the legislature adjourns.

SB 1159 does not affect civil claims against employers for unpaid wages or federal wage claims filed with the US Department of Labor.

Employees may submit wage claims to the Arizona Industrial Commission by completing an online form.

Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) signed SB 1159 into law on April 2.
