Arizona’s unemployment tax rates generally are higher in 2020 than in 2019, the state Department of Economic Security said Jan. 9 on its website.
Effective Jan. 1, 2020, unemployment tax rates range from 0.05% to 6.42% for positive-rated employers and from 6.78% to 12.85% for negative-rated employers. Tax rates in 2019 ranged from 0.04% to 5.9% for positive-rated employers and from 6.23% to 11.8% for negative-rated employers.
The tax rate for new employers is 2% for 2020, unchanged from 2019.
Arizona’s unemployment-taxable wage base is $7,000 for 2020, unchanged from 2019.
