Australian Capital Territory Adds Payroll Tax Surcharge

A surcharge for large businesses to the Australian Capital Territory’s payroll tax takes effect July 1, the territory’s government said June 26.

The standard rate of 6.85% and basic wage threshold of A$2 million (US$1,330,100) per tax year above which an employer is subject to the payroll tax did not change in the territory’s Taxation Administration (Amounts and Rates—Payroll Tax) Determination 2024.
