BGOV OnPoint: US-Taiwan Tax Bill on Tap After August Recess

Senate Finance Committee leaders are planning to mark up legislation this fall that would alleviate double taxation for US and Taiwan businesses via the tax code — joining other proposals to bolster economic ties between the countries.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved a competing bill (S. 1457) in July that would instead allow the Biden administration to negotiate a tax agreement with Taiwan and require congressional approval for any deal.
