British Columbia’s hourly minimum wage increased June 1 to become the highest among all Canadian provinces, the province’s government said.
The standard hourly minimum wage increased to C$17.40 (US$12.71), from C$16.75, the government said in a news release. The territory of Yukon has a higher minimum wage at C$17.59 per hour.
Minimum wages for specific types of employees also increased June 1 as follows, the government said on its website:
- Live-in camp leaders: C$138.93 per day, up from C$133.69.
- Live-in home support workers: C$129.62 per day, up from C$124.73.
