Bulgaria Publishes Framework Law for Euro Adoption

Bulgaria’s law setting out the process of adopting the euro as the country’s currency was published Aug. 19, even without a firm date for the conversion.

The law (Bulgarian) outlines the procedures for converting to the euro from the lev in various areas, such as prices of goods, accounting, exchange and supply of banknotes and coins, and other places financial information is stored. It does not specifically address payment of wages. Bulgaria’s labor code does not require wages to be paid in any specific currency.
