California will maintain its current unemployment insurance tax rates for 2025 but increase its disability insurance withholding rate to 1.2% from 1.1%, according to an update on the Employment Development Department’s website.
Unemployment insurance tax rates will range from 1.5% to 6.2% for experienced employers and include a 15% emergency surcharge, according to the website. Positive-rated experienced employers will also be subject to a separate employment training tax of 0.1%.
Employers may not make voluntary contributions in 2025, the department said.
The rate for new employers will remain 3.4%, according to the website.
