California’s minimum wage is expected to rise to $16.50 from $16 effective Jan. 1, 2025, according to Bloomberg Tax calculations.
The calculations were based on state statutory requirements and data from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
However, Californians will vote on a ballot measure in November that would change the minimum wage law if it passes. The hourly minimum wage for 2025 would be $18 for employers with at least 26 employees and $17 for employers with 25 or fewer employees, under the measure.
