California’s withholding methods will be updated for 2025, an Employment Development Department official said Oct. 23.
The standard deduction used in the Method B exact-calculation method and its instructions will increase to $5,540 or $11,080 annually, up from $5,363 or $10,726, depending on the employee’s filing status and, for married employees, the number of state allowances claimed. Married employees who claim at least two allowances receive the higher value, otherwise receiving the lower value.
The value of a state allowance will increase to $163.90 annually, up from $158.40. Tax rates in Method B continue to range from 1.1% to 14.63%. ...
