Candy Digital Must Face Claim It Axed Worker Over Adoption Leave

A former Candy Digital Inc. employee may proceed with his claim that the company violated the Family and Medical Leave Act by firing him before he became eligible to take leave to adopt his niece, a federal court said.

Charles Robbins started working for Candy Digital on Nov. 1, 2021. On May 12, 2022, he told the company he planned to take 12 weeks of FMLA leave starting Nov. 2, to adopt his niece, whose mom died suddenly. Robbins was fired in July.
