The minimum wage in Chicago, Illinois, will rise to $16.20 for all employers effective July 1, Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) said in a June 6 press release.
This is the first time that a single rate will apply to all covered employers regardless of the number of employees they have. Previously, the minimum wage was tiered for large and small employers. The minimum wage generally applies to employers with at least four employees, under the city’s municipal code.
