Connecticut Expands Use of Sick Leave to Include Mental Health

Connecticut service workers may use paid sick leave for mental health wellness days or because their children are victims of family violence or sexual assault under a bill effective Oct. 1.

Connecticut law defines service workers as employees primarily engaged in one of several occupations defined by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Standard Occupation Classification System and who are either paid on an hourly basis or nonexempt under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
