Connecticut Shortens Time for Employers to Protest UI Benefits

Connecticut is shortening the time that employers may protest unemployment benefits charges to 40 days from 60 days, under a bill effective Oct. 1.

The Connecticut Department of Labor sends employers a Statement of Benefit Charges each quarter that shows the amount of unemployment benefits charged to their account. Benefits charges largely determine an employer’s unemployment insurance tax rate.
