Denmark Extends Leave for Parents of Twins

Denmark granted additional parental leave to parents of twins under a law that takes effect May 1.

The amendments (Danish) to the Maternity Act, which covers maternity and paternity leave and benefits, allow 13 additional weeks of leave for each parent after the birth or adoption of twins. The leave must be taken within a year of birth or adoption.

The new section of the act replaces one that granted additional leave to parents of at least triplets and also applies to them, Denmark’s Employment Ministry said in a news release (Danish).
