District of Columbia Minimum Wage to Reach $18 on July 1

The District of Columbia will increase its minimum wage to $18 from $17.50 effective July 1, according to a public notice released by the Office of Wage and Hour.

The minimum wage for tipped employees will increase to $12 from $10, according to the notice. The $2 increase in the tipped minimum wage is the result of the city’s effort to phase out the tip credit over the coming years.
