GEICO Shortchanged Auto Claims Adjusters on Wages, Lawsuit Says

GEICO violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York law by cheating at least 100 auto insurance claims adjusters out of wages for off-the-clock work, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday in a federal court in Brooklyn.

The proposed class and collective action was brought by Alexander Rieske, who worked as a GEICO claims and damage adjuster in Woodbury, N.Y., since 2013, on behalf of similarly situated employees.

GEICO, which is legally registered as Government Employees Insurance Co., subjects these employees to a number of company-wide policies and practices that deprive them of overtime pay, the complaint says.
