Georgia’s 2019 employer’s guide, including withholding tables effective Jan. 1, 2019, was released Nov. 9 by the state revenue department.
The tables lower Georgia’s highest tax rate to 5.75 percent from 6 percent, implementing changes in a law (H.B. 918) signed March 2 by Gov. Nathan Deal (R). The tax rate on supplemental payments of more than $15,000 was also decreased to 5.75 percent from 6 percent, the tables said.
The state’s standard deduction also increased to $4,600 from $2,300 for single individuals, another change made by H.B. 918.
