Georgia’s withholding methods were updated June 4 to include changes to its tax rate and state allowance that take effect July 1, retroactively to Jan. 1, 2024.
The 2024 Employer’s Tax Guide revisions use a tax rate of 5.39% instead of 5.49%, and a state allowance of $4,000 annually instead of $3,000. Additionally, the guide indicates that the 5.39% rate should be used for supplemental wages.
Both changes were made in HB 1015, which was signed by Gov. Brian Kemp (R) April 18.
