House Approves Funding Reauthorization for Workforce Training

The US House approved a multibillion-dollar expenditure to reauthorize funding for job training programs such as those catering to dislocated and formerly incarcerated workers.

The bill (H.R. 7309) would reauthorize funding for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (Public Law 113-128), which was authorized in 2014. The reauthorization of at least $80 billion would provide funding from fiscal year 2023 through fiscal year 2028, according to a Congressional Budget Office cost estimate report. A total cost wasn’t immediately available after the adoption of the respective amendments.
