Illinois Extends Tax Deadlines for Tornado Victims

Illinois tax deadlines were extended for victims of tornadoes in the state, Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) and the state revenue department said Jan. 6.

The extensions generally postpone deadlines starting Dec. 10, 2021, to May 16, 2022, for individuals and businesses in the affected area, the department said in a news release.

Withholding returns due Jan. 31 and May 2 can be filed by the May 16 deadline, while no penalties are to be assessed on deposits due from Dec. 10-26 if they were made by Dec. 27, the department said.
