The Indian state of Punjab’s range of daily minimum wages was increased, the state labor department said Oct. 23.
The range of daily minimum wages effective in Punjab since Sept. 1, 2018, is 311.12 Indian rupees (U.S. $4.25) to 510.02 Indian rupees (U.S. $6.96), up from a range of 302.41 Indian rupees (U.S. $4.13) to 501.31 Indian rupees (U.S. $6.84), the department said in a notice.
Minimum wages in Punjab vary by skill level, the department said. The state adjusts its minimum wages twice a year, effective March 1 and Sept. 1.
