Iowa Issues 2023 Unemployment Tax Rates for Experienced Employers

Iowa’s unemployment tax rates for experienced employers will decrease for 2023, Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) and Iowa Workforce Development announced.

Effective Jan. 1, 2023, unemployment rates for experienced employers will be determined using Table 8, the Aug. 24 announcement said. The rates in Table 8 range from zero to 7%, according to IWD’s website.

For the last five years, the unemployment rates for experienced employers have been determined using Table 7, which has rates ranging from zero to 7.5%.

Iowa’s unemployment-taxable wage base will be $36,100 in 2023.
