Iowa released its 2026 unemployment insurance tax rates on its Workforce Development website.
Tax rates for experienced employers range from zero to 5.4% for 2026, according to the update. The rate for new employers is generally 1% but 5.4% for new construction employers.
Unemployment insurance tax rates for 2026 are determined using Table D, according to the department. Table D has the lowest rates of Iowa’s four tax tables and was created in 2025 under a law that overhauled the state’s unemployment insurance tax rate tables.
