Ireland is to add a new paid public holiday in February, Imbolc/St. Brigid’s Day, starting in 2023, the country’s government said Jan. 20.
The holiday is to fall on the first Monday of February unless Feb. 1 is a Friday, in which case that is to be the holiday instead, the government said in a news release.
Additionally, a one-off public holiday is to be held on March 18 in remembrance of Irish victims of Covid-19 and in recognition of healthcare and other workers, the government said.
