Ireland Updates Guidance on Taxation of Stock Options

Ireland’s guidance on taxation of stock options was updated following legislative changes that make the employer responsible for withholding taxes from options exercised starting Jan. 1, 2024, Irish Tax and Customs said March 5.

The Finance (No. 2) Act 2023 amends the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997 to require employers to withhold income tax, the Universal Social Charge, and Pay Related Social Insurance on income from stock options exercised starting Jan. 1, 2024.
