Ireland’s paid sick leave entitlement is to start Jan. 1, 2023, a commencement order for the Sick Leave Act 2022 said.
The act establishes an entitlement to three paid sick leave days per year. “It is intended that the entitlement will rise to up to 10 days sick leave in a year by 2026,” the Department of Trade, Enterprise, and Employment said in a news release. The act allows the entitlement to be increased by up to three days at a time once 12 months have passed after the act or a previous increase has taken effect.
